Week Thirteen Volleyball Players

SEC volleyball player of the Week 13:

Leah Edmond * Kentucky freshman * OH * 6-0 * Lexington, Ky.

Striking player of the Week:

Melanie Crow * Missouri Redshirt Junior * oh * 6-1 * Wildwood, Mo.

In Missouri’s two wins last weekend, Crow contributed 5.33 points, 4.67 disposals and 1.67 digs per set. She counted over 20 pass aways in both matches while batting.340 or better in each game. After the five-set win at No. 5 Florida, Crow set single-season career highs in total finishs (372) and points (445.0). She has now recorded double-digit eliminations in 20 games this season, 11 of them in conference play.

Defensive Player of the Week:

Alyssa Munnyn * Secondary at Missouri * MB * 6-2 * Suwanee, Ga.

Munnyn helped improve the Tigers to 14-2 in league play after averaging 1.44 blocks per set in two wins. She started the week with four total blocks in the four-set win over Auburn. Munnyn then had nine blocks in total in Missouri’s five-set win over No. 5 Florida. She now has 139 total blocks under her belt this season, the second most in a single season in the program’s history.

Setter of the Week:

Olivia Dailey * Sophomore at Kentucky * 5-10 * Trussville, Ala.

Dailey had 98 assists over the weekend, including a career-high 60 assists in Sunday’s win over Texas A & M. She joined an elite club as one of only four passers in the 25-point history of the rally ERA in the United Kingdom to total 60 assists in a game. Dailey, who is already fourth in the country in assists, averaged 14.0 assists per game over the weekend, well above his average of 11.90 this season. In Friday’s game against LSU, she helped the British hit.339 in a three-set win over LSU with 38 assists.

Freshmen of the Week:

Leah Edmond * Kentucky freshman * OH * 6-0 * Lexington, Ky.

During a 2-0 week for the Wildcats, Edmond recorded 39 sales in wins, including a career-high 25 in the four-set win over Texas A & M. She became the fourth player in the United Kingdom in the 25-point rally era to amass 25 or more sales in a game, along with current senior Anni Thomasson and former All-Americans Whitney Billings and Sarah Mendoza to achieve the feat. Edmond is also solid on defense, stretching up to 10 digs and five total blocks in both wins. On the week, they averaged 6.14 points, 5.57 sales and 1.43 digs per set.
